The IFA2 project concerns the HVDC electricity transmission interconnector between France and England across the English Channel. The French landfall in North of Caen, at Merville-Franceville, in the Baie de Seine, and the English landfall is at Daedalus, in the Solent and Approaches. The route length of the main HVDC interconnection (2x bundles power cables + FO Cable) is in the order of 204km. Boulder removal activities as well as Post-lay burial activities for #C3 were executed between September 2019 and February 2020.

Prysmian has awarded ASSO a contract for the execution of perform Post Lay Burial activities by means of Mechanical Trenching and subsequently as-buried survey operations for approximately of 109,600m across the HVDC route.

 ASSO’s scope of work included:

  • Preparation Activities//Mobilization-Demobilization
  • Post Lay Burial by means of Trenching
