The Hudson Transmission Project is a 660MW electric transmission link between New York City and New Jersey that was completed in June of 2013. While its main purpose is to provide a new source of electric power for the New York City customers of the New York Power Authority (NYPA), the Project also provides New York City with access to renewable resources and includes very significant upgrades and reinforcements to the transmission system in New Jersey.
The Power Bridge LLC decided to replace the abovementioned submarine cable system with a new one.
The cables system that was installed (replaced) is composed by a 5-cable bundle of:
- 3 High Voltage Alternate Current (HVAC)
- 2 Fiber Optic (FO) cable
Prysmian has awarded ASDG the transportation of the cables to the project site in the United States and the installation of the cable bundle approx. 6,215 m. ASGD scope of work was also including the preparation - mobilization and the DP Trials and Equipment Testing as well as the Commissioning Activities
